Home monitoring of patients with COVID-19 can alleviate stresses on healthcare systems and has been associated with improved survival (JW Infect Dis Jan 2022 and Ann Intern Med 2021 Nov 16; [e-pub]). Now, investigators report outcomes associated with combining standard home monitoring with pulse oximetry in 1217 individuals with confirmed COVID-19. Participants were randomly assigned to standard home monitoring (twice daily texting tool) or standard home monitoring plus pulse oximetry. Among those receiving the combined intervention, 78% reported at least one pulse oximetry reading (mean, 10 readings per reporting patient).
