Evidence supporting the use of immunosuppressants in children with myasthenia gravis (MG) is largely inferred from studies of adults. To examine rituximab use in children with MG, researchers retrospectively reviewed records of 74 patients younger than 18 with ocular and generalized MG diagnosed between 2009 and 2020. Both seropositive (acetylcholine receptor or muscle-specific kinase antibody positive) and seronegative patients were included. Among the 56 patients with generalized MG, 66% required immunosuppression. Corticosteroids were the most common first-line immunosuppression treatment for generalized MG (used in 62% of first-line treatments).
