Remote monitoring for heart failure is currently receiving a lot of attention despite a paucity of evidence and considerable controversy about whether it can truly improve outcomes. Some monitoring requires patient engagement, which may not be easy to elicit. In the current pragmatic clinical trial, investigators evaluated whether remote monitoring of diuretic adherence and weight changes in patients recently hospitalized for heart failure paired with a behavioral economics–informed intervention could reduce the risk for readmission or death within 12 months.
