Many SARS-CoV-2–infected individuals experience prolonged symptoms of COVID-19 (NEJM JW Gen Med Jul 2021 and JAMA Netw Open 2021; 4:e2111417). In October 2021, the WHO defined post-COVID condition as a clinical condition that “occurs in individuals with a history of probable or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, usually 3 months from the onset of COVID-19 with symptoms that last for at least 2 months and cannot be explained by an alternative diagnosis.” To assess the effects of vaccination after SARS-CoV-2 infection on post-COVID symptoms, British researchers surveyed a random sample of >28,000 adults (mean age, 46) who had a positive RT-PCR test before receiving at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine between February and September 2021.
