Eptinezumab is an intravenous antibody directed against the calcitonin gene–related peptide (CGRP) ligand that has proven efficacious in preventing migraines in previous studies. It is the only antibody administered quarterly, with potential early improvement 24 hours following the infusion. To demonstrate the safety and efficacy of eptinezumab in people with migraine who had failed previous preventive treatments, investigators performed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, including 891 participants from several sites in Europe and the U.S. Participants had at least 4 migraine days per month and had failed two to four preventive treatments in the previous 10 years.
