The first print issue of Journal Watch Infectious Diseases in February 1998 covered 20 studies ranging from an analysis of the clinical epidemiologic characteristics of bacillary angiomatosis to a report on an outbreak of avian influenza A (H5N1) in Hong Kong. Since that beginning, the goal of this publication has been to provide an ongoing survey of the medical literature for key studies in infectious disease, with a scope that has included the four latest worldwide pandemics: SARS, H1N1 influenza A, Ebola, and COVID-19. We have also provided information on key new clinical practice guidelines, pharmacologic agents, and vaccines.
