Our colleague Joe Elia is retiring from the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS)/NEJM Group. Joe, along with Dr. Anthony Komaroff, founded Journal Watch (later renamed NEJM Journal Watch) in 1987. Always a visionary, Joe launched Journal Watch as a digital product — a rarity back then.
Joe's other accomplishments during his 51 years at the MMS/NEJM Group are too many to list. But among them: He founded Massachusetts Medicine in 1986 and Physician's First Watch in 2006. He also launched the NEJM Journal Watch podcast, Clinical Conversations, in 2008, for which he conducted hundreds of interviews with clinicians and researchers.
