The optimal duration of therapy for complicated urinary tract infection (cUTI) requiring hospitalization is unknown. In a retrospective propensity-matched cohort study, investigators at 24 U.S. medical centers collected clinical data from patients hospitalized with bacteremic cUTI; treatment duration was categorized as 7, 10, or 14 days and the primary outcome was recurrent infection with the same bacterial species within 30 days of completing therapy. Among 1099 patients, 265 received treatment for 7 days, 382 for 10 days, and 452 for 14 days.
