Rates of antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence and viral suppression are often lower in women than men, possibly because of social determinants. In a study from the CDC-sponsored Medical Monitoring Project, investigators focused on data from U.S. cisgender women currently taking ART who responded to surveys from 2015–2019. Adherence was defined as self-reported 100% ART use in the last 30 days; sustained viral suppression (SVS) was defined as HIV RNA levels <200 copies/mL within the last 12 months.
