Infections with Fusarium species in immunocompromised hosts frequently result in systemic dissemination with high mortality despite use of currently available antifungals. Fosmanogepix is a prodrug of manogepix, a novel antifungal that inhibits glycosylphosphatidylinositol biosynthesis, impeding fungal adhesion and immune evasion. The drug has a broad range of activity against Candida, Aspergillus, and other molds and is available by oral and intravenous routes.
