Two recent clinical trials have demonstrated that outcomes following ischemic stroke treatment with tenecteplase versus with alteplase are comparable. To examine outcomes in routine clinical practice, these authors conducted a review of data from July 2018 through June 2021 at more than 100 hospitals in three countries that were using tenecteplase for acute stroke thrombolysis. The primary endpoint was the rate of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), defined as an intracranial hemorrhage with worsening of 4 or more points on the NIH stroke scale (NIHSS).
