Recent research has suggested a possible benefit from cannabis products containing both tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) as a treatment for tics in Tourette syndrome (TS). This study included 22 patients with TS and moderate to severe motor or vocal tics on the validated Yale Global Tic Severity Scale. In double-blind crossover fashion, participants received 1 mL orally daily of an oil (5 mg/mL of THC plus 5 mg/mL of CBD) or placebo for 6 weeks, followed by 6 weeks of the alternative (placebo or active treatment). There was a 4-week washout before crossing over. The primary outcome was the total tic score on the tic scale.
