Cardiovascular disease may contribute to cognitive decline, but the mechanisms are unclear. In this study, researchers assessed whether myocardial infarction (MI) affected cognitive trajectories in participants from six well-established, prospective, population-based cohort studies. Incident MI was identified from adjudicated medical record reviews. Cognitive measures from the six cohorts were harmonized into standard scores for global cognition, memory, and executive function. The primary outcome was the change in global cognition. Secondary outcomes included the change in memory and executive function.
