Patients who have an intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) while taking antiplatelet agents are at increased risk for hematoma expansion and death, but no agent has been shown to reduce this risk. Desmopressin reduces bleeding in patients taking antiplatelets in other settings, and its use in ICH is endorsed by some guidelines. However, no randomized controlled trials have been conducted for this indication. The primary aim of this phase 2 study was to determine if a multicenter, placebo-controlled trial of desmopressin is feasible in antiplatelet-associated ICH.
