Vaccination is one approach for preventing Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). A previous study of a three-dose C. difficile vaccine using inactivated toxins A and B demonstrated immunogenicity for both monthly (0, 1, and 6 months) and daily (1, 8, and 30 days) regimens among healthy participants aged 65–85 without a prior history of CDI. Now, researchers report the results of a study extension in 300 participants randomized to receive a booster vaccination 12 months after primary immunization.
