For patients with acute stroke, physicians consider several contraindications against intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). Some contraindications are absolute, such as presence of hemorrhage on the initial computed tomography scan, and others are relative. For patients with previously diagnosed intracranial tumors, a relative contraindication exists. However, there are few high-quality data on this topic. To evaluate in-hospital and 90-day outcomes for symptomatic and fatal intracranial hemorrhage in patients with brain tumors, these authors analyzed an international registry of patients who received IVT for acute ischemic stroke.
