Several years ago, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and the American Cancer Society recommended that people at average risk should begin colorectal cancer screening at age 45 instead of age 50 (NEJM JW Gen Med Jun 15 2021 and JAMA 2021; 325:1965).
