Despite the availability of safe and effective direct-acting antivirals for treating hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, the prevalence of such infection has not declined. The typical model for HCV treatment — outpatient referral — may not reach the marginalized populations at risk. To examine the effect of testing and then initiating HCV treatment during hospitalization, Norwegian investigators designed OPPORTUNI-C, an open-label, multicenter trial conducted between October 2019 and December 2021.
