Two neuropathy syndromes — sensory neuronopathy and gastrointestinal pseudo-obstruction — are considered “high-risk” paraneoplastic phenotypes according to consensus guidelines. Although various paraneoplastic neuropathy presentations have been reported, the range of nerve biopsy findings in paraneoplastic neuropathy has not been well described. To better characterize these syndromes, researchers reviewed records from patients with paraneoplastic neuropathy who had undergone biopsies and testing for high-risk antibodies (associated with cancer in >70%).
