Several recent studies have addressed the potential role of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in patients with large volumes of ischemic tissue on baseline imaging. All studies have reported 90-day outcomes, whereas there is little information on longer-term outcomes. Investigators from the SELECT2 trial have already reported 90-day outcomes. This industry-funded analysis looked at 1-year results. Patients aged 18 to 85 years were enrolled with a documented occlusion of either the distal internal carotid artery or proximal middle cerebral artery (MCA).
