Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a multiorgan inflammatory condition that follows primary or recurrent SARS-CoV-2 infection (NEJM JW Infect Dis Jun 17 2020 and JAMA 2020; 324:259 and 294). Rates of MIS-C were highest during the early months of the pandemic; thereafter, reported peaks mirrored COVID-19 activity.
Now, CDC authors describe 117 children who met the 2023 CDC case definition of MIS-C (with onset in 2023; mean age, 7 years).
