Most studies that have shown a benefit from thrombectomy (EVT) for ischemic stroke in the late time window (6 to 24 hours after time last known well) have used either perfusion imaging or advanced imaging to identify core infarct volume. In many parts of the globe, advanced imaging is not available, and the use of plain computed tomographic imaging (CT) is used for treatment decisions. Whether plain CT alone can identify EVT candidates in the late time window is unknown. Researchers conducted an investigator-initiated, industry-funded multicenter registry at 66 hospitals in 10 countries.
