The Panel on Antiretroviral Therapy and Medical Management of Children Living with HIV has updated its guidelines regarding the care of children with HIV exposure or infection and sexual maturity ratings [SMRs] of 1–3. These guidelines address laboratory screening, antiretroviral treatment (ART) initiation, long-acting ART, and specific antiretroviral medications (noting which agents are NOT recommended as initial therapy in infants and children).
