In 2011, the Endocrine Society published a guideline on “Evaluation, Treatment, and Prevention of Vitamin D Deficiency” (NEJM JW Gen Med Jul 15 2011 and J Clin Endocrinol Metab 2011; 96:1911). Now, the Society has issued an updated guideline, influenced by a substantial body of research conducted in recent years. Here we cover recommendations relevant to adults; pediatric recommendations are covered separately (NEJM JW Gen Med Sep 1 2024).
