The RESCUE-Japan LIMIT, ANGEL-ASPECT, SELECT2, and TENSION trials provide evidence to support expanding the indications for endovascular thrombectomy to include acute ischemic stroke patients with large established infarcts at presentation — patients excluded from the pivotal endovascular thrombectomy trials. As is typical for trials in acute stroke, efficacy and safety were assessed at 90 days and showed clear improvements in outcomes with endovascular thrombectomy.
