Erenumab, a monoclonal antibody to the calcitonin gene–related peptide receptor, has been approved as a preventive treatment for migraine. This phase 4, multicenter, double-blind, manufacturer-sponsored study investigated the use of erenumab in 584 patients with chronic migraine and medication-overuse headache (MOH) who were randomized to 70 mg of erenumab, 140 mg of erenumab, or placebo once monthly for 24 weeks. The primary endpoint was MOH remission at month 6 (i.e., <10 mean monthly days using acute headache medication in months 4, 5, and 6). Patients with opioid overuse were excluded from the current analysis.
