Morbidity and mortality from coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major concern for people with HIV (PWH) in the U.S. and Europe, with prevention a focus after publication of the REPRIEVE trial. As data on CAD among PWH in middle- and low-income countries have been limited, investigators from Uganda performed cardiovascular disease (CVD) profiling and computed tomography scanning of coronary arteries to detect CAD (defined as presence of calcified or noncalcified plaque) in a circumscribed population of PWH (older than 40 years; on ART ≥3 years) and a matched control population without HIV (PWoH).
