Electric scooters (e-scooters) have grown in popularity among children and adolescents, but their safety profile relative to that of standard scooters is unknown. To address this, researchers reviewed the medical records of all pediatric patients who presented to a single emergency department in Vienna, Austria, between 2019 and 2022 with injuries from either e-scooters or standard scooters. Most of the 633 patients were boys, and those riding e-scooters tended to be older than those riding standard scooters (mean age, 14 vs. 8 years).
