Migraine is a common neurological condition in women of childbearing age, leading to frequent triptan use before and during pregnancy. While triptan exposure generally is considered safe, the long-term risk for neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) in offspring is unknown. To assess this risk, researchers tracked 26,210 pregnancies of women with migraine identified through a Norwegian database. They used four categories of exposure to triptans and other preventive medications: discontinuers before pregnancy, early discontinuers (short-term, low use), late discontinuers (moderate use), and late discontinuers (high use).
