Linezolid, an oxazolidinone derivative primarily used to treat infections caused by resistant gram-positive organisms, also has potent tuberculostatic activity. It has become an important agent in all-oral treatment regimens for rifampin-resistant or multidrug-resistant TB, together with other TB drugs such as bedaquiline, pretomanid, delamanid, fluoroquinolones, or clofazimine. However, linezolid is plagued by various side effects (primarily neuropathy and myelosuppression), especially when given for the long periods needed to treat TB.
