Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)–receptor agonists are effective for managing diabetes, obesity, and other conditions, but their use often is limited by gastrointestinal (GI) side effects. In an open-label study, researchers in Israel recruited ≈100 adults with type 2 diabetes to test whether slower titration of semaglutide resulted in better adherence. Participants were randomized either to label-recommended titration (starting at 0.25 mg/week, increasing to 0.5 mg/week and to 1 mg/week at 4-week intervals) or flexible titration (starting at 0.0675 mg/week, increasing by 0.0675 mg weekly until reaching 1 mg/week; if side effects developed, an additional week was added before the next dose increase).*
