Urinary tract infection (UTI) has become a catchall explanation for symptoms ranging from confusion to cryptogenic abdominal and pelvic pain. Attempts to control the chaos include new definitions and management guidelines, as well as changes in clinical protocols. Now, Chicago clinicians report the results achieved by their institution's new interdisciplinary clinic for patients with complex UTIs, staffed by infectious diseases (ID) specialists, urologists, and pharmacists.
