Lichen planopilaris (LPP), one of the causes of scarring alopecia, is traditionally difficult to treat. First-line treatment includes mid- to high-potency topical corticosteroids, often accompanied by intralesional corticosteroid injections. Another popular therapy is oral tetracycline antibiotics. Unfortunately, only anecdotal information supports the effectiveness of any LPP therapy. Two affiliated groups of investigators retrospectively studied a total of 56 treated patients and report the possible efficacy of two immunomodulating therapies for LPP.
