Port wine stains (PWSs) — vascular birthmarks occurring in 0.3% of newborns — represent capillary or venular malformations of the skin (commonly, the face). PWSs tend to persist or darken over time, and soft tissue hypertrophy of the underlying skin may occur in adulthood. Orodental complications associated with facial PWS of V2 or V3 distribution have been reported but not systematically studied.
Investigators performed a cross-sectional study to define the spectrum of orodental findings and complications in 30 patients with facial PWS and V2 or V3 involvement. Patients and their dentists provided descriptive data by completing questionnaires.
