Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) refers to psychological and physical symptoms that recur during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle and remit during the follicular phase. Progestogens frequently are recommended for treatment of this syndrome, although data on their efficacy are lacking. In this systematic review of published, randomized, placebo-controlled trials, investigators sought to determine whether progestogens reduce overall symptoms associated with PMS.
