Recent reports about risks from estrogen therapy have increased interest in selective estrogen-receptor modulators, such as raloxifene, for treating postmenopausal osteoporosis. Investigators used data from the manufacturer-sponsored MORE (Multiple Outcomes of Raloxifene Evaluation) trial to examine the effects of raloxifene on risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE), gallbladder disease, endometrial cancer, and cataracts, which are adverse events that are associated with both estrogen and tamoxifen therapy.
