A condition termed idiopathic plantar hidradenitis, in which tender, red nodules develop on the plantar surfaces of children's feet, was recently reported. This entity was thought to be a variant of neutrophilic eccrine hidradenitis that occurs in childhood. These authors describe two children with a similar condition that they have termed recurrent palmoplantar hidradenitis.
A 10-year-old child developed painful erythematous nodules on her palms and soles after hot tub exposure. A 5-year-old child had painful red nodules on the left plantar surface and low-grade fever.
