In the ASSENT-3 study, 6095 patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction received either enoxaparin (plus full-dose tenecteplase), abciximab (plus half-dose tenecteplase), or a standard regimen of unfractionated heparin (UFH) plus full-dose tenecteplase. Compared with the UFH group, the enoxaparin and abciximab groups had significantly lower rates of the combined endpoint (30-day mortality, in-hospital reinfarction, and in-hospital refractory ischemia), but the 30-day mortality rate alone did not differ among groups. The authors of this study report outcomes at 1 year for the 5942 patients (97.5% of the original cohort) who were available for follow-up.
