Elevated blood pressure (BP) is common in acute ischemic stroke, and many patients are already taking antihypertensive medications at presentation. While permissive hypertension is guideline-recommended after ischemic stroke, the timing for resumption of home BP medications is less well-established. In the previously published CATIS and CATIS-2 trials, researchers randomized a total of 9000 patients hospitalized with mild-to-moderate acute ischemic stroke to receive early or delayed antihypertensive treatment.
