Studies examining the relationship between triptan use and cerebrovascular risk have produced mixed findings. To address this uncertainty, investigators retrospectively analyzed private health insurance claims from 870,000 adults (median age, 40; 78% women) with a history of migraine but no prior vascular events. They compared the risk for ischemic stroke between those who initiated triptans and those who did not, with statistical adjustment for baseline characteristics.
