Tubal sterilizations are performed often, yet few studies have been designed to assess subsequent sexual responsiveness among women who have undergone this procedure. To evaluate the effects of tubal sterilization on sexual and relationship satisfaction, investigators conducted a telephone survey in a large sample of heterosexual Australian women who were in regular relationships.
Of 2721 women, 447 (16.4%) reported having undergone tubal sterilization, 85% of whom were between ages 40 and 64.
