Context

Immunocompromised persons infected with community respiratory viruses are at elevated risk of poor outcomes, but we don’t know how well respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine protects this population, since immunosuppressed persons were excluded from registration trials. Now, investigators have used an electronic medical record database to evaluate the effectiveness of RSV vaccination among more than 60,000 solid-organ transplant recipients who were 60 and older.
