A previous study showed no differences between use of the GlideRite preformed stylet or a standard malleable stylet for GlideScope intubation by experienced operators (JW Emerg Med Dec 7 2007). To assess performance by novice operators (≤10 prior GlideScope intubations), researchers randomized 60 elective surgery patients without difficult airways to intubation with the GlideRite Rigid Stylet or a standard malleable stylet. Operators were blinded to stylet type until after they obtained the best glottic view.
