High-Definition Colonoscopy with Electronic Highlighting

New-generation colonoscopes typically provide better image resolution and adenoma detection than older models (JW Gastroenterol May 21 2010), and they often warrant the designation “high definition” (HD). Another image-enhancement approach now commercially available for all colonoscopes is electronic highlighting (e.g., narrow-band imaging [NBI], Fujinon Intelligent Chromo Endoscopy [FICE] system, and i-SCAN).
