Although the first-generation colon capsule produced somewhat disappointing results (JW Gastroenterol Jul 17 2009), the second-generation capsule seems more promising. An initial study of this capsule relative to colonoscopy demonstrated a sensitivity of 89% for polyps ≥6 mm and 88% for polyps ≥10 mm, with a corresponding specificity of 76% and 89% (JW Gastroenterol Feb 5 2010). Now, investigators (many of whom have ties to the capsule manufacturer) report data from a second study.
