Improving outcomes for patients with relapsed or refractory aggressive B-cell lymphoma remains an important yet only partially met goal. To address this clinical challenge, investigators for the multicenter, phase III CORAL study previously compared two induction regimens — R-ICE (rituximab, ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide) versus R-DHAP (rituximab, dexamethasone, high-dose cytarabine, and cisplatin) — in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Chemosensitive patients then received high-dose therapy and underwent consolidative autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT).
